It's nice to see this coming to a head. A few months ago a read an article about Russia accidentally dropping bombs in Georgia and accidentally doing flybys.
I knew if anyone could bring back the old Soviet style, Putin could.
I surely hope this escalates. A strong Russia may help the US strenghten itself.

This kind of thing has been long coming in Georgia. Do a little reading on this place. They have several provinces in the country that are not governed by the Georgian government at all. Not just South Ossetia.
And on top of that, Russia thinks it should own the entire place.
While I do agree that a stronger Russia would bring some focus back to the USA, I would hate to see us go back to the military build-ups of the Reagan years. We built hundreds of nukes and spent billions on planes, tanks, etc. that were never used for anything good.
